  2. Aug 02,  · Legendary proto-punk guitar heroes James Williamson and Deniz Tek have joined forces for a brand new, odds-defying studio album, "Two To One", set to be released September 18 by Cleopatra Records. Missing: Can Of Soup.
  3. Notes. This exclusive vinyl 7 inch record was pressed for the recently completed European Tour on Deniz's own "Lo-Tek" label. Many were sold on the road but there are a number of signed copies left over which they made available by mailorder for fans and collectors. The songs are "Can Of Soup" from the Detroit album (a special mono mix for vinyl) and "Song For Dave", a previously unreleased old-school /5.
  4. Detroit the album has a sparser sound than the aforementioned garage punk heroes – older and wiser perhaps, though no less raw and unique. Stabs of keyboard and harmonica punctuate what is basically amped up blues played by seasoned veterans, and the restraint of the playing, especially Tek’s guitar, is louchely in sync with the lyrical.
  5. 6. TEK, DENIZ - DETROIT. CD (Compact Disc) · CAREER · 26/03/ · in GARAGE / BEAT / SURF / ROCK'N'ROLL. Radio Birdman-founder Deniz Tek returns with his first solo album in 20 years! Ten freshly written original songs performed in the power trio .
  7. Using Detroit more as a metaphor than as an actual location, Tek looks out at the struggle of the have-nots in his country and frowns at what he sees. Unemployment runs rampant in the bluesy “Ghost Town,” poverty takes charge in the folk-rocking “Can of Soup” and death itself dominates the burly “Pine Box” and the brooding.
  8. Detroit is a deep complex album in many ways. The stripped down trio format gives the album a stark sound that carries the weight of the words, a grim assessment of the decline of the Motor City. CD Track Listing: Pine Box (D Tek) Fate, No Amenable To Change (D Tek) Twilight Of The Modern Age (D Tek) Can Of Soup (D Tek) Growing Dim (D Tek).
